========================================================================= G C O S 8 N E T E X P R E S S v4.0.06 Windows NT/2000/XP RELEASE ========================================================================= UPDATE NOTES ============ TABLE OF CONTENTS ================= INTRODUCTION ERRORS FIXED IN THIS UPDATE IMPROVEMENTS IN THIS UPDATE DOCUMENTATION CHANGES TIPS & HINTS KNOWN ERRORS KNOWN LIMITATIONS PROBLEM REPORTING INTRODUCTION ============ This update contains fixes to all problems and all new features since release v4.0.04. Previously provided updates are obsolete and no longer required. ============== UPDATE V4.0.06 ============== Errors fixed in this update --------------------------- o Cobol: Variables in copy mapping are now expanded in the translated copy statement. If the expanded copy-path exceeds source line limits, an error message is given - E-8074 Copy file-path too long. Note: This change to assure correct copy mapping when editing source. If flagged change copy mapping (expanded) to a shorter file-path. o Installation: The ...\IDE\Tools registry key is now created during NE8 installation. This key could be missing, if Net Express had not been used after installation, and it would lead to an installation failure. o Commands: The GNTGCOS8 and INTGCOS8 were missing. o Commands: GNTxxxxx commands did not place GNT object file correctly. o Source Create: Failed to recognize command line arguments. o Copy Create: Failed to recognize command line arguments. o UELOG: Did not recognize the COBOL listing and failed to update the log correctly. o Documentation: Getting Started manual now warns against installation into directory containing spaces. Improvements in this update --------------------------- o Wehkamp: Special Wehkamp software has been included as optional component. o Commands: Most commands will now enter prompt mode if no arguments are given. o DBSP: Oracle 10g is now supported. o Documentation: Getting Started manual now contains an example of how to animate/execute a batch program (main program), without having this in the your project. ============== UPDATE V4.0.05 ============== Improvements in this update --------------------------- o Cobol: The length limitation for numeric fields in packed decimal or display formats has been raised from 18 to 38 digit precision. IIDS: Record Panels cannot be generated for subschemas with numeric field(s) > 18 digits or > 9 decimals (will only execute in non-visual mode). Data File Editor: Record layout does not suppoirt numeric field(s) > 18 digits (shown as unsupported long integer). Rehosting: Target RDBMS may impose lower limitation, ex. DB2 only support 31 digit precision. During schema validation these limitations are verified, and you may be required to re-translate the schema if translation is not done with the target RDBMS configured. A new directive in DEFAULT-SECTION of DBMS.CFG may be used to force limitation, if translated in a SQL-IMPLEMENTATION:OFF environment, ex. MAXIMUM-NUMERIC-LENGTH : 31 The length is documented in the error message from schema validation. o Schema Utilities: The translate and view functions will now open all appropriate source/listing/error files as multiple windows in the MFE8 Editor. o Subschema Utilities: The translate and view functions will now open all appropriate source/listing/error files as mutilple windows in the MFE8 Editor. o Rehosting: A new nnMETA.SQL script is now generated during schema validation. The scripts may be used to create meta information about the IDS-II schema in the target RDBMS. The script will also document db-key usage (minimum, maximum, low, high, available). ============== UPDATE V4.0.04 ============== o First release level. ===================== DOCUMENTATION CHANGES ===================== o Please refer to Release Notes for further details. ============ TIPS & HINTS ============ o Please refer to Release Notes for further details. ============ KNOWN ERRORS ============ o Please refer to Release Notes for further details. ================= KNOWN LIMITATIONS ================= o Please refer to Release Notes for further details. ================= PROBLEM REPORTING ================= Please use the enclosed Software Problem Reporting (SPR) forms for problem reporting.
